Not sure if this had anything to do with his decision or not but this hand occured simultaneously on another table the actions went kinda like, I cbet below hand, he cbet above hand, he raised below hand, I raised above hand, I then used my timebank to make sure he made the next move on either of the tables and not me and since he was playing a lot more tables than me at the time he was forced to.
I usually wouldn’t post stuff like this but this is probably the first famous person I’ve ever stacked so its KINDA a big deal!
check out kobe jumping an aston martin – not sure it’s real or not fwiw but cool nonetheless
So I tilted today for the first time in a long time. Actually I may have tilted a little bit yesterday, but its all one big session amirite? It’s been mostly vs Preposterous on stars. The guy is 16 tabling 3/6 and playing a 24/17 style or so. I just don’t see how this is possible and I really tried to exploit him by stealing a lot of his blinds, 3 betting him relentlessly, 4 betting him etc hoping he’s not paying attention but he is. He defends his bb to sb steal ALOT and seems to be playing pretty well. I don’t get how he can be while 16 tabling. Bleh, so that’s what tilted me and I’m down like $3k to him this month all at 3/6 6max which is quite a bit. I guess I will admit defeat and admit he is 10x the multitabler I will ever be. I did watch a little of the deucescracked AHK scripts vid so I guess he’s using those, but I still don’t think I could ever play that many tables esp at that high of a limit. I did pick up a couple of leaks I believe he had, but they are very minor and the opportunity to exploit them doesn’t come up very often.
Anyways… it’s not like I’m busto or anything, just breakeven over past two days or so thx to run good at 5/10. I’ve noticed that I’m finding it hard to play my A game at 3/6 anymore. For me it seems like 3/6 is the new 2/4 and by that I mean the amount of money I’m playing for no longer makes me nervous in the slightest and it really makes me push the marginal spots when I should really be folding(and I would if the $$ meant more to me there) and overall it’s kind of lost the excitement of winning $3k or whatever a good day at 3/6 is. Having said that, at 5/10 I feel that I REALLY focus and play my A game 90% of the time there. There the money still means a lot to me and it forces me to focus on every decision I’m making and as a result I feel I’m playing very well there. So to sum up I think I’m going to try to play more 5/10 for the rest of the month and hopefully continue my run good cuz I ain’t tryin to be no mid stakes balla no mo’ ya hearrrrrddd?
So I’m running so sick hot in April so far its pretty sick. It’s obviously not sustainable and I’m just waiting for the doomswitch. I’m usually not a very superstitious person but posting that I’m running hot right now has always seemed like bad luck for me. I imagine that contributes a little to why I post so infrequently. When I run bad I don’t want to post cuz it’s just going to be me whining and who wants to hear that amirite? and when I’m running hot I don’t want to post for fear of my streak ending as soon as I post. Meh, oh well, guess I need to think more like Tommy Angelo and realize there is no such thing as a streak and just post on a more regular schedule regardless of recent results.
If I were smart I’d probably just stick to 3/6 and grind out really decent months there , but I just can’t help myself and I’m up like $5k so far playing some 5/10 so I’m definitely going to be playing some more of that this month. I hope it continues to go well.
Dodgy & BTimm were here all weekend visiting and I had a good time having them here. We played quite a bit of wii, and a decent amount of poker. I definitely picked up a couple of things for my poker game while they were here and it was very helpful to have someone there telling me to fold the marginal rivers that I’m usually a payoff machine on. One quote from dodgy I liked while watching him play was “Well he check called the flop as the pf raiser so I’m going to fire three barrels. Don’t really know what he has but he’s gotta be weak.” We also coined the term
flushot (noun) – the backdoor nut flushdraw
here’s a hand of me running good on someone when I hit my flushot
Here’s a hand from yesterday that I was a little unsure about, but I think it’s good. Hands like these really indicate that I’m running good/playing good imo because when I’m running bad I call here 100% of the time and wouldn’t even consider folding.

Going to go watch the ncaa championship game now, enjoy the single greatest use of LED technology ever!
There’s something great about the start of a new month and getting a fresh start on things. I’m pretty excited for happenings this month and hopefully I can have that big breakout month that I feel I’m just on the verge of having this month. I played like 1200 hands today and made $1.5k. Overall I’m pretty happy with my play, just ~$7kish away from another shot at 5/10 :). Below are my best played and worst played hands of the day imo.
best played
This hand might not look like much, but it’s one of those spots where I used to 3 bet the flop and jam all day because “ooohhh i got teh overs+FD alll innn!!” In reality this is a huge leak I’ve had in the past which I’m happy I’ve fixed for good(hopefully). It’s a raised pot, not 3 bet, we are out of position, and after he raises he is going to have a ton of 2pair/straight/set hands that he is not folding and maybe even a better draw. Now I’m not saying I would never jam this vs someone really getting out of line, but that’s just it, they have to really be getting out of line for 3bet getting in here to be good imo.
worst played
Pretty unhappy I couldn’t get away here. I think the flop play is good but I think I can fold the turn esp vs this villain since I don’t really beat anything, just kinda fell into the “i got 2 pairs I call” slump.
For April my goals are to play 40k hands & move up to 5/10. If I end up blowing all my profits from 3/6 & lower there and end up breakeven again, so be it. I will beat you 5/10… it is only a matter of time….

I can’t really say I am gonna miss you. Here were my march goals:
1. Play 40k hands – ya pretty much
2. Profit and withdraw a good chunk, while still keeping an online roll of $50k. – checkmark for the withdraw part lol
3. Move up to 5/10 successfully – meh… at least i’m not really losing there right??

This month was pretty meh… definitely the swingiest month I’ve ever had thx to 5/10. Overall I ended up pretty much breakeven not including rakeback. The laptop graph I only played about 4k hands on there this month, but I’m just gonna throw all of those results into this month because I’ve never included them before.
Despite being a little frustrated with the overall results this month I’m gonna be honest and say I don’t really regret having played 5/10 at all even though I know I could grind out $5k+ solid months playing exclusively 2/4 and below with relatively small variance this is not my goal. I think I’d much rather struggle at 5/10 for 100k hands or however long it takes there breaking even for a few months before I have a breakout $30k+ month and really get the ball rolling. It is only a matter of time before I at least run average and start crushing there. I’m perfectly okay with sacrificing small profits now in favor of the big profits at a later time taking shots and blowing most of my profits from the lower stakes in the bigger games.
I’m by no means saying I played great or even good poker for the majority of the month, all I am gonna say is I played good enough to make some decent monies and that didn’t end up happening. Add another $2k below expectation from my laptop and this’ll put me at oh let’s see here…5k+8k+2k+12k= ya that’s right about ~27k below expectation for 2008 so far, weeeeee.
Phil Ivey made a vid of him playing online. It’s pretty sick. Check it out!
Ivey owning
So I’ve been playing a ton lately. In the past 4 days I’ve literally done almost nothing but eat, sleep and play poker. I’ve probably put in about 12k hands in the past 4 days which is a hell of a lot for me since I rarely play more than 4 tables and never more than 6.
My play/results have been pretty mediocre to be honest. Yesterday afternoon I went on a sick rush and won $9k in 1000 hands. That felt real good and I even won my biggest pot ever but then I played a bunch later that night and pretty much spewed it all back. I played one guy HU at 600nl and lost like $3k to him. There was one hand in particular that is gonna sting for awhile where we were 230bb deep and I flat his raise from the bb with 78s. Flop comes 965 two clubs. I checkraise, he calls, turn is 6, I bet, he calls, river is 7 I bet like $510 and he shoves his remaining $600 or so in, I call and he shows 67. Weee.
It hasn’t been all bad though I’m still having an okay month and I feel like I’ve really tweaked my game quite a bit and fixed a lot of leaks which I think a lot of lower stakes players have but don’t even realize it. I even noticed a couple mistakes that FoxwoodsFiend makes in his deucescracked video :).
Last weekend I made it out to Btimm’s place for a little gathering he had and I had a great time. From left to right it’s Btimm’s wife, Btimm, Me, Dodgy, Princessdonk, AceCR9 and Dice.
Dodgy should be coming up to Chapel Hill/Durham area next month so I’m pretty pumped for that. Sorry this entry was so boring hopefully this dancing walrus will at least be entertaining!
So I haven’t posted in awhile because I haven’t been playing much. I’ve spent the past week visiting my college buds back in Ann Arbor for St Patty’s day and had a real good time. I woke up twice at about 6am to go drinking and went out again both nights, good times.
When I got back to playing some poker I was definitely rusty and my first ~1k hands I was the hugest station ever calling down with A high and midpairs multiple times but luckily I hit a few suckouts and managed to slap myself around and start playing decent since then.
I recently splurged on the herman miller aeron chair a couple of weeks ago and it finally arrived today. Although expensive I’m very pleased with it so far. I usually have pretty bad back problems, but this one has very nice lumbar support and my back feels great today and I’ve only sat in it for one day!
Tomorrow I’m headed out to BTIMM’s for a cardrunner’s get together and I’m super pumped. People attending should be btimm, dodgyken, pdonk, AceCR, Dice I’ll try and take some pics and get them up here. You can find most of their blogs either on cardrunners or through dodgyken’s blog over there —–>
Here’s some hands from the past two days.
Probably the most fun hand I’ve played in awhile
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2304789
Semi-interesting. I don’t think he’s going to be check raising with a K here, I think he leads the turn most of the time with one, so I think he’s got a draw here most of the time.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2304783
fold one time donk? When he checks the turn and bets the river I know he has something weak he wants to showdown.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2304823
Sorry no vids this time gotta rest up for tomorrow & its already late!
So recently I’ve tried to really increase my focus while playing. This means that I’ve stopped listening to music when I’m playing, stopped browsing the internet, stopped being on AIM etc. While I do find my sessions much more enjoyable and fun while listening to music I think it does decrease my focus a little bit and makes me go on semi-autopilot. I’ve also started talking to myself during my sessions like I’m making a video and justifying all my actions. While it is a little weird at first and definitely gives me a sore throat after awhile and makes me play shorter sessions in general I am having pretty good success with it so far and think I’m going to continue doing it for the near future.
I’ve also joined leggopoker recently and aejones’ videos have been EXTREMELY eye opening. He has such a deep understanding of the game and knows exactly where the value is in every single bet that he makes. I’m also amazed at the speed with which he acts and analyzes the hand. One “aha” I’ve had recently from watching his videos is how to play optimally vs draws. I can honestly say that without aejones I would never have played any of these hands the way that I did.
Three streets of value with ace high. Note that the turn bet is for VALUE it is NOT a bluff.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2251523
Ace high call down on a scary board. In the past I would usually be betting the turn my logic being I have a nice draw hopefully he either folds or I make the best hand, but here with Ace high and some showdown value I decide to check it back. On the river he instantly bets out and I dont think he’s ever doing this with a pair.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2251527
Bet calling 3rd pair on the turn. On the flop I expect him to be calling me with a lot of gutshots and random garbage so I think he’s drawing. On the turn, I still think he’s drawing so I go ahead and bet for value again and he shoves, at this point the only hand I’m really afraid of here is QT, I don’t think this villain is good enough to shove AT or something here and additionally, if I’m betting 99 here for what I perceive to be value I think I have to be calling a shove.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?2251538
Now every once in awhile you will get owned by running into the nuts or whatever, but so far I’ve had good success with hands like these. I usually don’t like posting hands/analysis because I’m super paranoid about being exploited by regulars but this was such a major realization in my game I couldn’t help but share it with all my fans! lol.
The 3/6 stars game have become absolutely infested with shortstackers. It is terrible. People currently on my hit list:
IMSAKIDD
LUCIFERAN
Skat Tilt
MT UR WALLET
and a million other donks who buy in for $180 or whatever and annoy the hell out of me. You have no idea how annoying it is to be playing a session and then all of a sudden have IMSAKIDD join every single one of your tables with 20bb. To anyone who says, “oh its part of the game, deal with it” How can you possibly play anything that resembles poker with 20bb? Imagine if everyone bought in for 20bb. If people want to play short fine stars needs to make tables where the max buyin is 30bb or have CAP tables like fulltilt does. If I wanted to play for $120 I would be playing .50/$1 games or maybe $1/$2. I don’t even game select for fish anymore I just game select for the tables with the fewest shortstacks in them. It’s hard to find a table without any of them on and as soon as they join its impossible for me to play real poker. For those of you that don’t know the hell that shortstackers create it causes the following problems:
1. I can’t 3 bet ANYONE remotely light if the shortstack is still yet to act.
2. I can’t make a normal 3.5x raise and have to adjust my raises to 3x or smaller.
3. I have to play really nitty like them if they are still to act, ie fold things like QTs from the CO etc.
4. There’s virtually no good seat at the table anymore if 2 or more are there (which is on most of the tables) So for example even if they are sitting directly next to each other and I have the best seat to their direct left I can profitably open semiloosely from exactly two positions, the CO and button, and if they have already opened I have to fold everything marginal and only 3 bet very strong hands that can stand up to their open. So basically even if seat conditions are ideal, it still ruins the game.
5. It increases my variance a ton because I’m all in vs the shorties so much and flipping with them so often.
These guys join almost every single 3/6 table and it’s really hard not to play with them. If two of them are playing its impossible to play with full stacks. WTF is the point of having $600 on the table if 3 people have <$200? As a result I joined and quit more tables than I probably ever have in one day today, mixing in FTP and stars tables. In conclusion I beg you stars please increase the miniumum buyin to 40bb. Playing with anything less is not poker. You might as well just change your software so it has two buttons, "all in" and "fold" if this continues. End rant.
I don’t know why this vid is so funny, it just is.

So here’s a few things I didn’t post last time that I meant to. First is my all in luck graph for the year. This is over the course of 65k hands. Again, I’m not trying to complain or anything, but just keep objective accurate records mostly for myself.
Also, just checked ptracker and during February I played 81 hours for an hourly rate of $64.34. As for March goals I want to:
1. Play 40k hands (for real this time) This means I’ll have to play approximately 100 hours this month or ~25 hours a week.
2. Profit and withdraw a good chunk, while still keeping an online roll of $50k.
3. Move up to 5/10 successfully
Pretty funny ebay listing, can you solve the riddle without cheating?
