Finally got in the green for the month. A much less depressing way of looking at it is I’m up over a grand in the past week. I’ve been dabbling in some short handed NL hold em even though I said that I wouldn’t. After watching aba’s video on cardrunner’s something just really clicked with me and I think I can really beat these games. I’m only playing 100NL right now, I hope to move up to 200NL sometime next month. sbrugby’s insight was extremely helpful and really made me realize all the information I was missing out on while playing. There is SOO much information that opponents give you, you just have to make sure you’re paying attention to take advantage of it.

Busted out 5th of a $55 6handed freezeout tonight so that’s mostly why I’m in the green. Hand here: hand

Right now I think I’m a pretty good MTT and SNG player, but my cash game definitely needs some tweaking. I don’t really want to become a donkament specialist however for the following reason. bigjoe2003 is one of the best SNG players out there and he’s only up something like $90k over the past 12 months in SNGs. sbrugby is one of the best cash game players out there and he’s up over half a mil in the past month. Clearly cash games is the way to go if I want to make lots of $$$.

Yeah so I went to this company info thingy the other night and I get there right when it starts and they are all out of pizza. So I’m upset – I’m not even late and no free dinner what is that? So I sit down next to this girl who has five slices of pizza to herself and she proceeds to eat all of them, except not all the pizza, she doesn’t even eat the crust. She puts that back on her plate and throws it away later. Then she leaves like 20 mins into the presentation and clearly doesn’t care to work for the company. What a bitch. I really wanted to choke her out. Good story?

Both the overbet all in and the call are just hideous and this happens ALL THE TIME at these levels.

Well after dropping a grand today in about 20 $60 turbos or so and losing about every coinflip possible I decided to move back down to the $27 turbos. But I don’t want to talk about bad beats, I will talk about some leaks I found in my game though. I can’t find the exact hand histories right now but I found that I was definitely making some loose calls when I got a bigstack. For example, say I doubled up early and had 3000 in chips. Blinds are 100/200 and there are 8 players left. UTG who is very tight goes all in for 1600 and I am on the button with 99. I found myself making this call because he could be doing this with 22-88. The only problem is the vast majority of the time this is AT+ or TT+. I was also unwilling to ever lay down tptk postflop even if it was clear I was behind.

After only playing 8 $27 turbos tonight I can already tell my game has improved tremendously so my time at the $60s wasn’t a total loss. I think I can comfortably 8-table the $27s. They aren’t so bad after all, its nice to actually get paid off with my good hands and not have 6 people left at 200/400 blinds.

andr3w321 on February 6th, 2007

Been playing sets of 6 $60 turbos lately. I’m pretty much breakeven(I think I’m down like 1 buyin over my first 100 or so). I played about 40 tonight and lost like $6. I did buy SNGPT today finally because my paypal account finally cleared so I should be able to fix some holes I’m sure I have in my game and be crushing these in no time. Here’s an interesting hand from tonight.

I just called with AQ at first, got some limpers and then a shortstack moved all in and I was to close the action. Instead of just calling I raised it up with no intention of folding to another push and ended up getting my money it with a coinflip and a lot of dead money in the pot. I’m happy with the way I played this one even though I ended up losing the flip.

1. Make $3k. This is my #1 goal all other goals are to achieve this goal
2. Play only sngs(primarily $60 turbos, I’ve played a few and the play there seems just as bad as the $27s) as well as a little 200NL FULL RING and a couple MTTs if I have time.
3. Stay away from short handed NL. I am just not made for this game. I’ve lost about $1500 at 200NL in the past couple of days trying this and I’m just no good at shorthanded. I need to stay away. I also requested a check from pokerstars for like $2500 so my bankroll at the beginning of Feb for all intents and purposes is $10k.

I will try and post some interesting stories later. I realize now that a purely poker blog is just boring. Check out tuckermax.com that guy is my fucking idol.

andr3w321 on January 30th, 2007

So in January my bankroll went from about $870 up to $1850 down to about $950 two days ago. I knew that I wasn’t going to reach my goal playing sngs so I decided to just play MTTs the last couple of days since I knew a big score was the only way to break $2k for the month. Well I ended up winning the $10 rebuy on stars outright for $13.5k. That was nice. linky

In other news I think my bad downswing was actually a result of some bad play which I think I have fixed. I was making some semiloose calls for about half my stack near the bubble which I’m pretty sure were big leaks. With such a large bankroll now I’m not sure if I will continue playing sngs – I may move to 200NL. I will post February goals soon. Pz.

andr3w321 on January 20th, 2007

Not really on super tilt, but definitely on a pretty bad downswing right now. While I admit maybe 2-4 sngs were because of actual tilt the rest were all pretty much natural variance I think. I was up to about $1850 earler today, but after playing 50 $27 sngs I’m down about 10 buyins and my BR is $1406 right now. Hopefully tomorrow will go better and I can still make my goal of $2k by Jan 31st.

andr3w321 on January 13th, 2007

I’ve been having success playing sets of 6 sngs at a time but haven’t really had a enough time to commit to playing lately. Just had a job interview and a lot of hw and other stuff to do. In the past week I’ve played about 100 sngs and made about $350 so my current bankroll is $1196. I recently moved up to the $27 turbos again and I think I’m down about 2 buyins over my first 20 or so. Here’s my lifetime sharkscope stats:

I started just 6tabling sets of sngs after running about even over the past 200 sngs of 8tabling. Bankroll is at $927.
